What\'s up guys,
My name is Lon I\'ve been
surfing longboard for a while and for the past year decided to try SUP
& shortboarding. Tried a few shortboards and wasn\'t satisfied until
I bought my 5\'6 Cole trunk board....took it out 0-4ft+ on the south
shore (rocks, bowls, pops etc). One think I\'ll say is that it\'s an
every day board that performs from twin, quad & thruster
setup...pick your weapon! Im not a skinny guy so don\'t shy from from
the size of this board, it floats like a 9\'0 and rips like a 5\'6...so
if you see a Cole in the water ask if it\'s me and MAYBE I will let you
sample.

Cole Trunk Board
5\'2 - 21 1/8 - 2 3/4
Thruster set up (M-5 sides w/ M-3 center)
Surfer: 145-150lbs @ 5\'2 tall
Experience: approx. 9 years
Cole\'s Trunk Board is hands down the BEST board I have ever owned/ridden. I have experimented w/ single fins, twin fins, thrusters, quads, five fins, funboards, longboards, retro, hi-performance, and SUP\'s...and none can compare to Cole\'s Trunk Board. After every session with this board I am stoked!
So far I have tested the board in town at 0.5ft - 5ft Hawaiian Scale. To my surprise it can handle/hold in the larger surf just as good as it works in smaller surf. I feel confident dropping into waves that are small, large, and early or late take offs. Not once have I pearled on this board even though it\'s so short. I\'m pretty sure it has to do with the concave and the right balance of rockers on the bottom of board. There\'s just enough rocker to keep your turns snappy/smooth and just enough rocker to keep the paddle easy and the drive unreal.
I describe the drive to be unreal because this board hauls ass...I can make sections with no problem and without trying so hard. Board basically drives like a twin fin but will respond/hold better when trying to make a turn, hit the lip, or smack the section at high speed. Also, unlike a twin fin you can go really hard and big on your bottom turn and go straight up without fear of sliding out.
Going backhand on this board is also sick! Much easier than any other of my boards. I used hate going backhand but now love it when riding this board.
The rail channels on the top of board really help out too when dipping waves. I would always have to wax sections of the rail where I place my hands to dip, but with this board I don\'t have to. The rail channels give you something to grip on when dipping especially on the larger waves.
This board is also holding up well structurally. Been basically riding it every day for the past 2 months and there\'s barely any pressures on it. I\'ve even landed hard on my back directly on the deck. And again to my surprise there was only a slight pressure from my shoulder.
I\'m super stoked I bought this board. For the past couple years I\'ve been trying to see how short of a board I could ride. I remember when Santa Cruz came out with their 5\'2 Gdeck. I wanted to get that board so badly, but after looking at that board personally I didn\'t like how it was designed. I then tried to get a local shaper to shape me a 5\'0 board but he insisted that would be too short and persuaded me to go with a 5\'4. I still felt I could go with a shorter board.
Then Hawaiian South Shore got their 1st shipment of Trunk Boards. As soon as I saw the board and held it I knew it would work and would be something I would be stoked on. Unfortunately I didn\'t have the funds at that time and of course the entire shipment sold quick. But when the 2nd shipment arrived I was on it. I actually wanted the 5\'0 but it sold before I got to it and so I just went with the next shortest size.
Board is definitely well worth the price. There\'s so much going on with the design of the board with the channels, concaves, and bat tail. Local board manufacturers charge extra for a simple swallow tail on a board because of the extra labor it takes to glass and sand. I can only imagine what they would charge to produce a board like the Trunk Board. I bet it would cost a lot more and definitely not ride as well.
It\'s also worth the price because this board is so versatile with the different fin set ups you can go with. So far I have been riding it as a thruster and stoked on that. But I still have to try it as a quad, straight twin, or twin with a small trailer.
Overall, Cole\'s Trunk Board is sick. So stoked on it that I ordered another Cole design and already thinking of re-ordering another Trunk Board!!
Shaka,
Mark
