A Mid-Length That Doesnāt Sacrifice Performance: GLYDRA
Posted by DAVID KELLY
...LOST GLYDRA New Surfboard 2022 - AĀ glider-style, mid-length version of the Hydra ā¦Lostās Hydra is a wildly popular hybrid fish design surfboard, but if the recent trend toward longer surfboards tells us anything, itās that the average surfer loves a mid-length. Thus, Matt Biolos figured heād give us the best of both worlds by making a glider-style, mid-length version of the Hydra. More than simply a stretched-out version of the smaller fish design, the Glydra integrates a number of important changes that make it a legitimate design in and of itself. The snowboard-inspired, side-cut āPelagicā rails are maintained, as is the double concave inside single concave hull, but the overall rocker was increased to accommodate the surfboardās increased length, which allows the surfboard to fit in the smaller curves of tiny waves. The diamond tail effectively shortens the surfboardās rail, providing maneuverability despite the length and volume of the mid-length. Volume was added to the center line, but the deck is rolled to maintain sensitivity in the rails, allowing the Glydra to turn as well as it trips. The surfboard also features a five-box fin setup, allowing it to be ridden as a thruster, quad, twin, 2+1, and even quad...

NEW Surfboard from ...LOST The Retro Tripper

RETRO TRIPPERĀ FISH Matt Biolos and the crew at ā¦Lost have always loved short, stubby, fish-inspired shapes. In fact, they have two full-length films featuring nothing but fish hybrids: 5'5" x 19 ¼" and 5'5" x 19 ¼" Redux. These films and the performances of the ā¦Lost team on short, fishy boards went a long way toward re-popularizing the fish and hybrid design for modern surfers (in addition to revealing crazy waves such as Skeleton Bay in Namibia). True to its ethos of constant fun and refinement of board designs, ā¦LostĀ releasedĀ a new fish-inspired shape in mid-April 2022. Based on the Retro Ripper design, but shorter and with a fuller, more forward template, the Retro Tripper is intended to serve as a modern alternative to the classic fish shape. Ā Matt Biolos made the original Retro Tripper SurfboardĀ for himself in preparation for a trip to Salina Cruz in Mexico. He loved it so much he made a second one for a boat trip in the Mentawais, then started shaping them for his team riders to test. During the STAB Electric Acid board test he made two for Mason and Coco Ho, and they ended up shredding the heck out of them, even...

United Just Made It a Lot Easier to Chase Swells to California

This summer and fall seem like theyāve had more tropical storms than ever beforeānot a week goes by that there isnāt a hurricane bearing down on Hawaii or spinning off the coast of Mexico, or a typhoon running over Guam or the Philippines. All of that tropical storm activity means a lot of interesting swells from unique angles, and this weekās Walaka swell was no exception. The last remnants of the Walaka swell are slowing fading away, but there is already another hurricane churning in the east Pacific, and this one looks like a doozy. Hurricane Sergio is currently sending swell to Southern California, and is expected to double back on itself and send an even bigger pulse of SW swell late next week. With all of this hurricane activity, it can be tempting to start chasing swells full time. Why not score Walaka this week then fly to California for Sergio next week?! Of course, chasing swells like that can be a bit cost prohibitive, especially when you add board bag fees on top of your typical airfare costs. But it appears that United Airlines wants you to chase as many swells as possible, because on October 5, as...
