CJ Nelson Designs Colapintal
After years of riding classic boards, CJ Nelson recognizes a good shape when he sees one, which is why he has added Corey Colapinto’s “Colapintail” to his quiver. A collaboration between Colapinto and shaper Ryan Engle, the Colapintail is a mid-length intended to bridge the gap between longboards and shortboards. Influenced by the boards of Wayne Lynch, this “funboard” can turn, cruise, and noseride, and is a perfect addition to the quiver if you are looking for something to ride when the waves are a bit bigger than what you’d normally ride your log in (chest-high+), especially on reef breaks that are slightly more powerful. The turned down rails provide speed and control, and are complemented by a double concave/spiral vee through the tail. Meanwhile, the lightweight strength of the Thunderbolt Technology makes this board durable and damage-resistant, so you can push into larger, hollower waves when you feel like it.
Utilizes an EPS closed cell foam with a T-shaped fiberglass stringer that is placed strategically so the board has flex on the Nose and Twist on the Tail. Flex on the nose for more control when you nose-ride. Twist on the tail for speed and better turning.
Believe or not, after years of testing and time trails, Thunderbolt Technologies discovered having a tail with twist and flex speeds up the board. That is way so many are surprised the boards are fast enough to handle surfing North Shore.
Surfs like regular fiberglass. No corky funky feeling like the other epoxy boards.
Slightly lighter than fiberglass, but designed to flex in strategic parts of the board for performance.
Much more DURABILITY than any other board in the world!
