Firewire Mindcraft I-Bolic 2.0 — Tomo x Kelly Slater Collaboration

The Mindcraft I-Bolic 2.0 is the first collaboration between shaper Daniel Thomson (Tomo) and 11-time world champion Kelly Slater. This board challenges conventional shortboard design while remaining remarkably approachable.

The parallel outline packs generous volume into a compact shape, allowing you to ride 2-4 inches shorter than your standard shortboard without sacrificing paddle power. Unlike traditional high-performance shortboards that demand constant back-foot engagement, the Mindcraft allows for more relaxed, front-footed surfing with speed and flow.

Design features include a torpedo nose (elliptical, bullet-shaped) that shortens swing weight for quicker direction changes, plus Kelly Slater's signature bump wing round tail that breaks up the rail line for tight pivots while delivering smooth, flowing feel. Bottom contours run from single concave to slight double through the tail.

Built for the 2-6 foot surf range most surfers encounter regularly — excelling from small and gutless waves to quality surf with push. The I-Bolic 2.0 construction delivers traditional flex pattern with modern durability. Comes with 5 fin boxes so you can ride it as a thruster or quad.

Firewire Spaceship Proflex — Mike Woo x Kelly Slater

This is the board Kelly Slater rode during his memorable Kirra sessions in March 2024. The Spaceship represents decades of R&D by Mike Woo (@woosurfboards), who previously shaped the Great White Twin for Kelly inspired by a Great White Shark outline.

A high-performance model for good waves, the Spaceship features a more conventional outline designed for hold in tubes, turns on rail, and hold in round wave faces from Canggu to Coolangatta. This is Kelly Slater's favorite shape for good waves — it comes to life in tubes over reef passes, turns on rail at point breaks, and works as a performance shortboard at waves like Lowers.

The shape has the DNA of a Bali-tube-shooter with a rounded pintail, single concave in the front half that runs into double concave between your feet, performance rails, and rocker designed to fit into the curve of good waves.

Proflex Construction is Firewire's newest and highest-performance carbon construction. A sandwich build with 1.5lb EPS core and 3mm proprietary deck skin, with an engineered Technora carbon cage in between. S-glass on deck for superior strength, carbon on the bottom lapped over the apex of the rail for increased strength, durability, and controlled flex.

Best For: Surfers who want a high-performance board that excels in quality waves — reef passes, point breaks, and beach breaks with push.

HSS Exclusive — Takayama Fins

Takayama DT Flex Fin — Acid Splash (NEW)

The Donald Takayama Flex Fin gives you what most single fins can't: the quick pivot response you need for direction changes and the hold and drive you want for committed nose rides. This isn't a compromise between two styles — it's a template Donald designed to deliver both.

What makes it different? The bottom two-thirds uses an upright pivot-style template for quick turns. The top third rakes back significantly, creating resistance that holds your board steady when you walk to the nose. You get maneuverability without sacrificing control.

Every Takayama Flex Fin is handcrafted by Larry Allison in California. Larry has been making Donald Takayama's fin templates for over 30 years, using techniques he's been perfecting since 1971. Construction specs include 29 layers of 7.5-ounce fiberglass (not the 4 oz or 6 oz cloth used in mass-produced fins), spine positioned at 25% from the leading edge for lift and water release, and hand-foiled trailing edge and tip — a craft Larry describes as "almost a dying art."

The result is controlled flex dynamics that feel responsive without being loose. Due to the flex characteristics, a 9.5" Flex Fin feels more like a 9" conventional fin in the water — you can run slightly more depth without feeling over-finned.

Takayama HALO Center Fin

The Takayama Halo Center Fin is a premium longboard fin designed by Donald Takayama for enhanced performance. It features a revolutionary 2+1 fin system that combines traditional and modern fin technology.

This is a hybrid fin with Halo-style tip, based on Takayama's original pivot fin design. The special feature is an extended length center fin with Halo-shaped tip that matches the side fin geometry. The reverse-oriented geometry compared to traditional fins allows for efficient turns from multiple foot positions.
