Aloha Friday Weekly Update May 29 — Firewire Spun Honey Early Access Is Here
共有する
This week's Aloha Friday brings the Firewire Spun Honey to Hawaiian South Shore — Early Access to a Dan Mann and Kevin Schulz beach break groveler that hasn't landed anywhere else yet. Plus new FCS Channel Islands fins, restocked VEIA deckpads and FCS leashes, HSS tank tops back in stock, and Scott Sandals. There's also a Firewire Made to Order window open right now if you've been eyeing a custom build.
Firewire Spun Honey — Early Access
There's a moment right before a new board lands on the shop floor — before anyone's touched it, before it gets a leash or wax — where you can just tell. The shape says everything before you've read a single word about it. That's how it was when the Spun Honey arrived this week.
The Firewire Spun Honey is a refined, high-performance groveler shaped by Dan Mann for freesurfer and firefighter Kevin Schulz. It's built around the proven DNA of Firewire's iconic Spitfire, then updated for today's more explosive surfers. The target: fast, shifting beach break walls where you need speed without losing the ability to turn hard.
What makes it work
At the center of the design is a diamond tail — there for snappy pivots, added bite, and smooth release. The wide point sits a touch toward the tail from center, but further forward to the nose than the Sweet Potato outline. That positioning improves paddle power and wave entry. The tapered tail keeps things sharp when you want to lay it on rail.
Underneath, the bottom contour is an aggressive double concave set within a solid single concave — similar to the Sweet Potato, but with the double running further forward to the nose than most boards. This delivers speed, lift, and fluid rail-to-rail performance. Dan developed it from his S Boss and Boss Up shapes, where a similar bottom proved itself over time.
The five-fin setup adds range. Ride it as a thruster for tight arcs. Set it up as a quad for more down-the-line speed. The Spun Honey is designed to be a fast, forgiving everyday board for surfers pushing performance in weak conditions — with a spicy edge when the opportunity shows up.
Best for: Performance surfers who want a fast, versatile groveler built for beach breaks — shaped by Dan Mann, ridden by Kevin Schulz.

Mashup
The Firewire Mashup is a collaboration between Rob Machado and Dan Mann — built by merging the best elements of two of their most celebrated designs, the Seaside and the Spitfire. The result is a hybrid shortboard that generates effortless speed in weak surf while holding up to real turns in better waves.
This is a board for surfers who want one board that works when the waves don't — and still delivers when they do. The intermediate surfer who's outgrown their fish but doesn't always have the power to push a standard shortboard. The experienced surfer who needs a small-wave board that can still handle a good day. It rewards surfers who prioritize feel and flow over raw performance in critical conditions.
Best for: Surfers looking for a versatile everyday board that works across a wide range of conditions without switching templates.
Dominator Pro
The Firewire Dominator Pro is Dan Mann's performance evolution of the beloved Dominator series — a board designed to go toe-to-toe with a true performance shortboard while keeping the Dominator's DNA intact. It's more precise than the Dominator 2.0, but more forgiving than the FRK. That gap is exactly where most progressing surfers have been looking.
This board gives more capable surfers a design that matches their ability level — without dropping the paddle power and wave range that made the Dominator famous.
Best for: Intermediate-advanced surfers who've outgrown the Dominator 2.0 and want a board that rewards commitment and precision.

↑ Back to topFCS Channel Islands Fins — New at the Shop
Two new FCS Channel Islands fin sets just landed. Both use the Solution Performance Core construction and carry CI's design philosophy — speed and response with enough control to push hard.
FCS II CI Thruster — Channel Islands Solution Performance Core
The Channel Islands Solution Tri feels fast, lively, and highly responsive. The upright template allows for tight, vertical turns and quick transitions in the pocket, while the fuller outline gives you the confidence to push hard through maneuvers. Off the bottom it generates immediate speed. Off the top it releases cleanly for a loose, responsive feel.
Built on the Reactor template — a more upright profile with less rake, designed for quicker direction changes and a more responsive, vertical approach to surfing. Built for speed, tight turns, and snaps.
Best for: Performance surfers who want a fast, vertical fin for punchy everyday conditions.
FCS II CI Quad Rear — Channel Islands Solution Performance Core
The Channel Islands Solution Quad Rears feel fast, controlled, and highly responsive. The upright-inspired template allows for quick transitions and tight, pivot-style turns, while the 80/20 foil keeps the board stable and predictable through critical maneuvers. Paired with CI Solution side fins, this rear set enhances drive and hold without sacrificing release.
Built on the Carver template — a more vertical outline with neutral rake to promote fast direction changes and pivot surfing, while maintaining enough hold for powerful turns. Built for speed, control, and tight directional surfing.
Best for: Surfers running a quad setup who want high-performance response in punchy, hollow conditions.

VEIA Explorer 3 Piece — Squash Camo Night
Trusted by VEIA Ambassadors including Ivan Florence, Luke Swanson, and more, the Explorer 3 Piece Traction Pad is an optimal pad for any surfboard tail shape. The parallel cut through the tail pad allows for optimal placement and a sleeker look. Three-piece pad, low 7mm arch, SuperSoft EVA, 45-degree to vertical 25mm kick, diamond grip pattern, recyclable packaging.
VEIA JJF Squash Tail Pro — Hawaii Night
Inspired by co-founder John John Florence's O'ahu roots, the JJF Squash Tail Pro is designed with John's Pyzel squash tailed surfboards in mind. Two Hawaiian South Shore originals back in stock. Both built from robust 6.1 oz, 100% pre-shrunk cotton with a banded neck and armholes to prevent stretching, double-needle stitching at the bottom hem for longevity, and a quarter-turned construction to eliminate the center crease. The result is a smooth, premium look straight out of the drawer or off the hanger.
Tank Top Surfpoint
Tank Top Retro
Same construction, classic retro colorway. If the Surfpoint is the everyday go-to, the Retro is what you wear when you want to fly the flag.
Best for: Anyone looking for a durable, breathable island tank that holds its shape wash after wash.
↑ Back to topScott Sandals — Restocked
Scott Sandals has been part of Hawaii's fashion culture for almost 90 years. Started in 1932 by the Scott family after they came to O'ahu on vacation and decided to stay, the company brought high-quality shoe craftsmanship to Hawaii, along with 28 tons of machinery. In a place where slippers are practically the official state shoe, Scott Sandals are everywhere on the islands. That's precisely why we carry them here.
Kaikane — Green Camo
Building off Scott's number one selling Makaha, the Kaikane offers fun strap designs for those who want something other than solid color webbing. Nylon strap with anti-chafe neoprene lining for instant comfort. Scott's signature Rubalon insole wicks moisture away for added grip — it has the cushioning comfort of EVA foam with the support and durability of rubber, giving the foam memory that molds to your foot. Arch support and heel cup, nonslip non-marking outsole. Stock on the Kaikane changes constantly — if you see a design you like, don't wait.
Jawaiian — Black
After World War II led to material shortages, Scott Sandals shifted focus entirely to slippers. Over the next eight decades they became synonymous with the Hawaiian experience. The Jawaiian in Black runs sizes 5–14, available in nylon, rubber, leather, and vegan leather — quality craftsmanship with comfort and style for the beach or a casual day out.
Best for: Anyone looking for a classic Hawaii slipper with 90 years of island credibility behind it.
