The Harley Ingleby HI4 is the easiest board to walk and noseride in the HI Series — a performance longboard built around a wider outline, an even rocker, and a 4+1 fin setup that lets you ride it your way. It carries the drive of Harley's competition shapes while opening up the trim, glide, and tip time most longboarders are looking for in everyday surf.

WHEN
The HI4 is built for the wide middle of longboard surf — it starts working in knee-to-thigh-high waves and only gets better as the surf builds. The continual high-performance rocker, with a slight flip in the last six inches of the tail, keeps the board controlled in the pocket on bigger days, while the wider nose and even rocker through the middle let it glide and trim through softer sections that would stall a tighter performance shape. Riders consistently report taking the HI4 out in surf well over head and finding it still locked in. Hawaii's mix of clean small-wave longboard days and bigger, lined-up swells covers the exact range this board was designed around.
WHAT
Billy Tolhurst shaped the HI4 by taking Harley's two-time world tour HIHP outline and tuning it for everyday surf. The board is wider all the way through, with a more curvaceous plan shape between the feet that loosens it up and makes it noticeably easier to turn off the tail. The continual HP rocker carries through most of the board, then flips in the last six inches of the tail to keep the tip out of the way on vertical maneuvers and hold the board in the pocket on steeper drops. A long teardrop nose concave, set behind the nose flip, paired with the wider nose itself, is what makes the HI4 the easiest noserider in the HI Series — there's a defined platform up front that catches and holds when you step forward. The 4+1 fin box layout opens the door to riding it as a single fin, a 2+1, a quad, or a tri — different conditions, different setups, same board.

I’ve been riding the 9'3" HI4, and honestly, that board is magic. It’s easily my favorite board. For a longboard, it reacts almost like a shortboard—it’s incredibly maneuverable, fast, and easy to catch waves. I have the Thunderbolt Black construction, so it’s a little stiffer, but you can really feel it generate speed as you go up and down the wave. It’s a really fun ride. I’m 5'9" and about 230 lbs, and I can still do roundhouse turns and cutbacks on it. Going up the lip and coming back down for a cutdown is one of my favorite moves on this board. It’s just an awesome, high-performance shape. I love it so much I just came back to pick up a Mid6 as well!

I got the HI4 for my girlfriend as a last-minute Christmas gift. My plan was that if she didn't like it, I would use it myself. She used it the first day and loved it. I set it up with a 2+1 fin configuration, with 3.5-inch Carver side bites and a 6.5-inch FCS single fin. A 6.5-inch works better for me because of my weight. I haven't tried her board yet, but I already know I'll like it because it's similar to my Peacemaker. My girlfriend is light, and she loves the board. I've ordered an orange one for myself. She loves the color of hers, and you know how females are with colors—if they don't like it, they won't want the board even if it works well.
I'm Emmanuel Lint. I'm 5'10" and 160 lbs, and I would consider myself an intermediate surfer. We live in Canada but come out to Hawaii several times a year, and we always get our boards here. Last time, I added a 9'1" Harley Ingleby HI4 to my quiver. I absolutely love it. David set me up with the Takayama Halo fin as a 2+1 setup with side fins. I don't have enough experience to tell if it's just the Halo fin or the board itself, but the combination of the two is completely different from any board I've ever ridden. You just lean into it and the speed comes up right away at the top. It’s incredibly easy to turn back and it keeps its speed beautifully. You don't even need to step on the tail much, but if you do step on the tail, your turns are even faster. It makes you feel like a young kid again.
My name is Jacob, and I recently got the Harley Ingoe Hi4 surfboard, specifically the 9'1" version. I'm 6'1" and weigh 215 lbs. The board works super well for me. Initially, it was challenging because I hadn't surfed in over 20 years, but once I got used to it, it became the best thing I ever bought. I feel everything on this board, which I love. I usually surf it at Rock Piles, Bowls, and wherever I can catch waves. I've taken it out in waves up to four or five feet, and it feels like a shortboard. I'm using the Hi4 fins on it, and I also tried the Hatchet fins, but I prefer it as a Thruster setup. Overall, I'm very happy with the board.
This is Cliff, and I'm riding the Harley HI4 9'3". It's my favorite board. What do I like about the Harley HI4? I'd definitely say everything. I can make the drops that I couldn't on my old board. It turns really nice, paddles nice. I can't see anything wrong with it. The flex pattern on the board feels great. I take it out in big surf, 4 to 6 feet, and it's perfect. This is the only Harley design I'm riding at the moment, mainly just the HI4.
I'm Charlie I'm from Long Island Long Beach actually. I got the 9'1, I didn't like it at first I had a lot of trouble with fins. I had the Harley the quad five Fin set and first tried it out.I found it very Twitchy and so I struggled with maybe it's the way I stand because I know other guys that have had them and they haven't had that problem but I ended up calling Dave here and you know describing what my issues were and he recommended going with a twin fin, either the power Twins or the MRs I ended up getting the MRs with a small trailer and the board just lit up it's just it feels like it's twice as fast and it's good in small conditions and even larger you know I've had it overhead. It holds absolutely I got covered up a couple of times you know with the board it was awesome and it's it's got the speed too it's just amazing you know because South Shore and Long Island it's all beach break it's really fast you know and it's not like waves here or maybe California where they seem thicker it's they stand up you know so you gotta get in and get down the line quick to beat the sections,it's amazing I got it in the black. I have a TJ Pro in red and they feel the same to me to be honest with you I don't really feel the difference although I probably got them backwards TJ Pro should have been you know in carbon and I should have got the hi-4 because I ride the hr4 and smaller stuff TJ prosen looks bigger
For a longboard it is very light weight, I like it like that. It is very responsive and for a board of this length it is easy to turn and put on rail. I’m a short boarder at heart but I gotta say this board is fun even when waves are overhead.
Name's Joe I was in 9'3 it was a hi4 Harley Ingleby before I just took it out this morning it was super fun yeah a lot of volume .Tried one of my buddies one time that was the first time I've ever purchased one He have I think he had a similar one I'm not sure which one it was I think CJ Nelson it's paddled well it's just you know I'm a big guy so if it floats well you got the 9'3 Im about six three two forty on a on a good day
I love it love it yeah it's um it's kind of similar to the hihp it has the same kind of performance feel but it's much more nose rideable much more easy to approach the nose getting up there and even when you cut back a little bit tight it's a little bit of a tighter Arc versus the hrhp. oIt feels really good in smaller waves too. I'm running the the Harley thrusters I�ve been on the the hihp for a while then jumped on the hi4 and it was it was pretty noticeable difference as far as getting to the nose. I feel like I got a kind of like cheater five it and stuff like that it's it's a little bit more challenging but the HI4 much much easier.
The HI4 works well in small and large surf. I used a quad setup and it works well turning and nose riding. I highly recommend this board.
The HI4 is an awesome board.�I haven't tried as a quad yet but i like it as a truster. I�ve taken it out on some good surf. The last swell which is about my head high shoulder to head high oh yeah well maybe not hit high it's bigger but surprised how it handles the chop the weight is just about perfect. i think yeah yeah not too light not too heavy yeah just right. I got the Moe too, Im riding is a quad,that one that's a 7�2��
Despite a mishap on my inaugural sesh (which I got excellently repaired through Hawaiian South Shore), the HI4 did not disappoint. It’s my first thunderbolt and I love it!
Incredible board turns like short board
HI4 best board ever. I have like 30 9�0�s longboards and this one is the best. I�ve taken it out mostly at Ala Moana. The board is very maneuverable. It cuts back on a dime , for a 9�0 it�s really good. Money well spent.
I’ve had several new and custom longboards and the 9’1” HI4 is by far the best longboard I have ever ridden. Kind of the longboard I’ve always been looking for. For background, I’m primarily a short boarder and bought this board for cruising the smaller days. Took this board out during one of the last swells and was surprised how well it rode. The strength and durability of the Thunderbolt Black construction is unmatched and will keep the board looking new for a long time. These boards are not cheap, but when you consider what you’re getting, resale value and how long these boards can last, they are a great investment in my opinion. Awesome all around board. It works best on waist to head high waves and you can still have fun on those smaller days. I like the Harley Ingelby Quad fin setup the best, it gives you the drive to ride down the face and cut back at will. Big Mahaloz to the Hawaiian South Shore staff, they are always super friendly and helpful when ever I visit the shop, especially with picking out this board.

HI4 I just wanted to give a shout out to Brett & Dave. They helped me in getting the HI4 & giving me some insights on the fin setup. I have the 9'3" Blue Xeon board. I started with a 2 + 1 setup & the board worked great. I had never rode a quad surfboard before, but I wanted to try. The HI4 is set up with 5 fin boxes, so I set up the quad set. The board in the quad setup, is really loose & can turn on a dime, so much fun. Thanks again. Aloha Ed
Magic bord 最近はショートボードに乗っていたのですが ノーズライドをやってみたくてクラッシックタイプのシングルフィンのログを買ったのですが 扱いが難しく、もっと軽くてパフォーマンスも可能な板を探してたところHI4モデルに出会いました。 アラモアナボールズとワイキキスリーズの膝位の波から頭位の波をHI4で体験したところ 最高！！ これが今まで探してたボードでした。 とにかくテイクオフが早く動きが軽やか 加速性も優れものです。 パフォーマンス系のボードばかりだったので ノーズライドはまだ練習中ですが センターフィンをノーズライド向きにすると チャンスがあればノーズライドも出来ました このようなフィンのセッティングもオーナーのデビットさんを始め お店のスタッフがアドバイスしてくれます ノース重視の場合センターフィンは7インチのカノアモデル パフォーマンス重視の時はハーレーのトライフィンのセット センターが5.5と短いハーレーのフィンは波を攻め込めます ボリュームがありながらも動きが軽いので 初心者から上級者までいろんなタイプの人が楽しめるボードだと思います ハーレーのサンダーボルトはこれで3本目ですが 今まで修理した事がなく丈夫なのも良いです。 毎日サーフィン行きたくなるマジックボード ありがとうございました！！
