The TJ Pro V is built for the wide middle of everyday longboard surf — soft, lined-up walls with no real push, flat sections that kill most boards' speed, and waist-to-head-high conditions where you need to generate your own drive. The lower rocker and wider nose help it paddle into weak waves early and skate across the flats, while the spiral V and squash tail keep it loose enough to lean into tighter turns when the wave finally opens up. When the surf steps up to shoulder-high and punchier, the board still holds its own — the design range runs comfortably from knee-high up to solid head-high, which covers most of the days a longboarder wants to be out. Hawaii's mix of mellow peeling walls and short-period windswell is exactly the range this board was designed for.

The TJ Pro V takes the proven DNA of the original TJ Pro and tunes it specifically for average surf. Dan Mann dropped the rocker profile to make paddling and skating across soft flat sections effortless, then widened the nose to give the board more stability and planing area for noseriding and early wave entry. A deeper double concave runs through the bottom to channel water and build speed through sections that would stall a flatter-bottomed longboard. The squash tail shortens the rail line at the back of the board for faster pivot and quicker release on turns, and the spiral V out the tail adds that signature looseness — it lets you lean into tighter carves and feel the board break free underfoot in a way traditional longboard tail shapes don't allow.

Construction is Firewire's I-Bolic Core with Volcanic Lamination — the pairing Firewire introduced specifically for this TJ series. The I-Bolic core uses an I-beam foam structure with flex controlled at the rails through high-density foam, which gives the board engineered response without the dead weight of traditional stringers. The Volcanic lamination wraps the core in basalt fiber — a sustainable alternative to carbon that's actually stronger and more elastic, with double 4oz basalt cloth on the deck and single 4oz on the bottom. The result is a longboard that stays lively underfoot, bounces cleanly out of turns, and holds its feel over years of hard surfing. It's the most durable construction Firewire builds, paired with a core engineered for real performance.
