The MOE is built to cover the widest possible wave range a single mid-length can handle. It paddles into knee-high and weak surf where most performance boards stall, and it has the rocker, rail, and tail design to hold its line when conditions stand up to head-high and beyond. The flat-to-double-concave bottom keeps water moving through soft sections, while the foiled rails and progressively harder edge through the tail give it real drive and bite when the wave has shoulder and power. Hawaii's mix of mellow summer south swells and bigger, punchier days is exactly the kind of variable wave map this board was built for — which is why the MOE has stayed on our rack year-round since 2022.

The MOE's design is built around a flat bottom with a double concave running between the feet — a combination that gives it stability when you're paddling and standing up, and clean water flow when you start carving turns. Harley pulled the outline in slightly to keep it responsive, then kept the tail wide enough to hold speed and drive through soft sections. The volume is shifted back under the chest rather than spread out toward the nose, which is the design move that makes the MOE paddle harder than most mid-lengths and stand up cleaner — surfers don't have to shuffle forward and back to find the sweet spot. The rails start neutral and rounded forward, transition through a tucked edge near the fins, then flatten into a low hard edge behind the fins for drive and release through turns and white water.

Thunderbolt Red: Hand-laminated EPS foam core with internal carbon fiber flex components, finished with 6oz + 4oz fiberglass on the deck and 6oz + 2oz fiberglass on the bottom. Thunderbolt's most popular and most versatile build — tuned to a medium weight that blends the durability and liveliness of epoxy with the smooth, connected glide of a traditional poly board.

Thunderbolt Black: Lightest and highest-performance build in the Thunderbolt range. Hand-laminated around the same EPS foam core with internal fiberglass flex components, then finished with 6oz carbon fiber + 2oz fiberglass on both deck and bottom. Built for the surfer who wants the quickest rebound and the most responsive feel through turns.
