I have the 7'2" TJ Mid. I wanted to keep it high-performance, so I went with the 7'2" to stay around the 45-liter range. The rails are so thinned out that it doesn't feel too wide. I’ve taken it out to Chuns on a good day and honestly, it’s like cheating. At 190 lbs, I can still duck dive a 5-foot set because it’s only 45 liters, but I’m still out-paddling everyone. On the TJ Mid, I actually prefer the Kelly 2+2 siphons with a 3.5" center fin. If you line the center fin up just above the quad rear marks, it makes the board nice and loose while keeping the drive. You can really play with the placement to dial it in. With the right fins, these boards can do anything a shortboard can do.
