Akila Aipa x Slater Designs Presents the Flat Earth
After a couple of years of collaboration between Kelly Slater and Akila Aipa, the two finally settled on a board design that was a perfect fit for the Slater Designs quiver. The Flat Earth is a board designed for waves from ankle high to well overhead, making it an all-around shredstick for user-friendly conditions.
Featuring a relatively flat rocker and ample volume, it paddles well and picks up speed on the wave face quickly. The board has a rounded pin tail with a wing just behind the side fins, providing extra foam in the outline, but without sacrificing performance or control in the pocket. Available from 5'0" to 6'4", the board features a single to double concave bottom and forgiving rails. It also comes with three fin boxes, so you have the option to rock it old school as a twin (drawing on the influence of Akila’s legendary father Ben Aipa and his Stinger shape), or add a trailing fin for a bit more control.
Whether you are looking for something to ride when the waves are in the approachable range, or simply feel like getting into a conspiracy theory fight with Kelly Slater on Instagram, the Flat Earth is the way to go!
