When and why did you initially get into surfing? I’m originally from San Diego and started surfing when I was 16 years old It was just a way for my friends and I to spend summer together and be kids with no worries in the world.

Did you have a time period you laid off from surfing? I spent a lot of time in my 20’s and 30’s moving around quite a bit with not much coastal waters I’ve lived in Vegas, San Francisco and Guam before I finally moved to Hawaii I was in and out of Hawaii often for work when I was in Guam. One of my first work trips here I got in the water and immediately sparked a new passion for surfing.

What is your favorite thing about surfing? Surfing these days gives me a chance to break away and set my mind at ease with so much going on around me everyday. I feel relaxed and don’t have to worry about money, work or drama from relationships. It’s a window to help me remember my times when I was a kid again with no worries.

Where is your favorite place to eat after surfing? I surf at Ala Moana South Shore most of the time and my 3 favorites spots are Bowels, Rock piles, and Three’s. When I’m done I like to walk right over to The Harbor Pub, right at the edge of the marina, and order a turkey jalapeño sandwich with a side of ranch.

What other hobbies do you have besides surfing? When I’m not surfing, I enjoy working on construction projects. The only problem I have is finishing one project before I start another.

What type of work do you do? I really like working with my my hands so I have been lucky to work in carpentry for about 20 years.

Tell us about the board you recently purchased from us. What model and size is it, and how do you like its performance? So far, I have bought 3 boards from Hawaiian South Shore and I love everyone of them. The most recent one is the Harley Moe 7’4” and it’s good for whatever conditions I can take it out into.
