The Seaside is built for the conditions that frustrate most shortboards — small, soft, and lacking power. Its mellow entry rocker, wide point pushed forward, and high volume through the midsection let it lock into waves early and generate speed through sections where a performance board would stall. When conditions clean up and push toward head-high, the refined tail and redesigned quad-optimized concaves keep it in control without losing that fast, loose, down-the-line feel. Hawaiian lineups that run inconsistent throughout the day are exactly where the Seaside earns its keep — it handles the frustrating sets and thrives when something good rolls through.

Machado started with his Go Fish as the foundation and then made targeted refinements: less area in the tail, narrowed swallow tips, added curve, and a narrower nose. Those changes tighten the Seaside up and give it a performance edge the Go Fish doesn't have while keeping the wide mid-section and generous volume that make both boards easy to paddle. The bottom contours were redesigned from scratch to work specifically with a quad setup — single to double concave flowing into the tail — and the result is a board that slingshots down the line and holds through turns with real authority. It's a shape that looks inviting and surfs better than it looks.

The Seaside is built exclusively in two of Firewire's highest-performing constructions. Helium uses a lightweight EPS core with parabolic wood rails (Paulownia and Balsa), a composite deck skin, and no stringer — resulting in one of the lightest, most responsive builds Firewire makes. It generates speed quickly in weak surf and flexes in a way that feels lively underfoot. Volcanic pairs an Ibolic I-beam EPS core with basalt fiber lamination — the same functional characteristics as carbon but from a natural, sustainable source. It's Firewire's most durable construction and adds a slightly snappier, stiffer response to the same shape.

Helium 2: Firewire's lightest EPS core construction — stringerless 1.0 lb EPS blank with parabolic Paulownia and Balsa wood rails, a 3mm aerospace composite deck skin, and a fiberglass lamination schedule. Designed to generate speed quickly in weak waves and deliver a lively, responsive flex underfoot.

Ibolic + Volcanic: I-beam high-density EPS core with basalt fiber lamination — Firewire's most durable construction. Basalt cloth is a sustainable alternative to carbon with comparable stiffness and response characteristics. Adds a snappier feel and greater impact resistance compared to Helium.
