The MID4 3+3 has paddle power and glide for days when the waves are fat and slow, and the four-channel tail keeps it moving freely through soft sections where a mid-length is most at home. When the waves stand up and get steeper, the tighter nose outline and the performance rail let it fit into the pocket and hold a line without feeling sticky. Because the fin setup changes, the board changes with the conditions: twin for freedom and speed when the waves lack push, quad for drive and hold when they have more power. It suits the full mix of reef and beach-break conditions a Hawaii surfer sees in a week.

The MID4 starts with the MID6 outline, scaled directly, with one deliberate change: a quarter inch taken out of the nose outline at one foot back. That small tightening makes the board more comfortable in the pocket and in tighter sections without giving up its early entry. The bottom is flat through the entry, with Billy Tolhurst's signature rail relief running underfoot. That lets the rail be sharper and more performance-oriented without the stickiness that deep concaves can bring. Where the parent design runs six channels, the MID4 runs four. That frees up the tail for the 3+3 fin system and adds a touch of freedom through slower sections, with no noticeable loss of drive.

Thunderbolt Red: An EPS foam core with internal carbon fiber flex components, hand-laminated with 6oz and 2oz fiberglass on the top and bottom, giving a balanced, predictable feel with a medium rebound rate.

Thunderbolt Black: Thunderbolt's lightest, highest-performance build. It has an EPS foam core with internal fiberglass flex components, hand-laminated with 6oz carbon fiber and 2oz fiberglass on the top and bottom for the fastest rebound in the range.
