MID 6 MINI TWIN

The Harley Ingleby MID 6 Mini Twin is a compact mid-length twin fin from Harley Ingleby's Mid 6 range, built around a six-channel bottom and a fine round pin tail for real high-performance surfing at mid-length proportions. It's shorter and curvier than a standard mid-length, designed specifically to come alive as a twin and paired with the FCS II Power Twin fin set Harley shaped himself.

WHO

The MID 6 Mini Twin is for the intermediate to advanced surfer who wants mid-length paddle power without giving up the speed and release of a twin fin.

  • The shortboarder adding a mid-length to the quiver who still wants to surf with commitment
  • The longboarder or mid-length rider who wants to step down into something looser without losing paddle ease
  • The experienced twin-fin surfer looking for more volume and glide than a fish delivers
  • The progressing intermediate with fundamentals dialed who wants a performance mid-length that won't hold them back as they improve
  • The surfer who wants one mid-length that can paddle into smaller waves and still light up when the surf has real shape and power

This board rewards the surfer who knows how to work a twin and wants a board that accelerates hard out of turns.

WHEN

The MID 6 Mini Twin is tuned to cover a wide range — from softer everyday waves where the paddle power and low tail rocker carry speed through flat sections, up to solid, punchy surf with real shape where the six channels deliver drive and hold through committed turns. The curvier plan shape of the Mini Twin (compared to the longer Mid 6 models) makes it especially comfortable in tighter pockets and steeper walls. It can handle overhead surf when the shape is there, and the pin tail keeps it locked in when conditions get serious. Hawaii's typical mix of mellow morning runners and more powerful afternoon sessions sits squarely in this board's wheelhouse.

WHAT

The MID 6 Mini Twin borrows the Mid 6 range's core design — fine round pin tail, curvy plan shape, smooth rocker with a touch of nose flip — and shortens and tightens the outline specifically to release as a twin. The rail profile runs high through the nose, transitions to a tucked mid rail, and finishes low and hard in the tail, which gives the board balanced drive through flat sections and bite through tight turns. The standout feature is the six-channel bottom: three channels on each side, balanced between your feet, foiled so they're not aggressive enough to track but deep enough to feed lift and acceleration into every turn. The pin tail sharpens the response and keeps the board anchored when you push hard.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What size MID 6 Mini Twin should I order — 6'4" or 6'10"?

MID 6 Mini Twin sizing depends on your weight, skill level, how you want to surf the board, and the conditions you surf most. The 6'4" is shorter and more maneuverable — suited to lighter surfers or anyone who wants the tightest, quickest version of this shape. The 6'10" carries more paddle power and glide, handles weaker conditions better, and is the more versatile size for most surfers stepping down from a longer board. Contact us directly and we'll help you dial it in:

When you reach out, include your current board dimensions and volume, what construction you're considering, the type of breaks you surf most (beach break, reef break, point break), how often you surf, how you want to ride this board (more of a small-wave fun board or more of a one-board quiver for mixed conditions), and your location — location affects shipping options and helps us give you accurate delivery information.

Do I have to ride the MID 6 Mini Twin with the FCS II Power Twin fins?

You don't have to, but the board was designed around that fin set. Harley shaped the Mini Twin specifically to pair with the FCS II Power Twin — he designed the fins himself, and the board's channel placement, tail rocker, and rail profile are all tuned to work with them. Most riders who own the board run the Power Twins and find the combination hard to beat. You can ride other FCS II twin fin sets and the board will still surf well, but if you want the design working at its best, the Power Twins are the match.

What makes the Harley Mid 6 Twin unique?

Its shorter length, curvy plan shape, and six perfectly blended channels provide maneuverability, speed, and control in all wave types.

Which fins are recommended for the Mid 6 Twin?

The board is designed to be paired with the FCS II Power Twin fin set.

Is the Mid 6 Twin suitable for all surf conditions?

Yes, it performs well in everyday surf and can handle more serious waves, breaking the stereotype that channel bottoms are only for clean waves.

Is the Mid 6 Mini Twin suitable for intermediate surfers?

The MID 6 Mini Twin is designed for intermediate to advanced surfers who have their fundamentals dialed in. It paddles easily and has enough volume to be forgiving, which helps a progressing intermediate work their way into it — but the channel bottom, pin tail, and twin fin setup are built to reward committed surfing, so it's not a beginner board. If you're confident catching waves, making bottom turns with real intention, and you're ready to push your surfing further on a mid-length, this board will grow with you. If you're still working on takeoffs and basic turns, a flatter, wider mid-length with a five-fin setup will be more forgiving while you build skills.

Does the channel bottom make the board track or limit maneuverability?

The six channels are carefully blended and not overly aggressive, so they do not cause the board to track or limit maneuverability. Instead, they provide extra drive, lift, and control, allowing for immediate response and acceleration through turns. The channels are balanced between your feet, making it easy to break line or adjust your arc length anywhere on the wave’s face. This design allows the Mid 6 Mini Twin to perform tight turns and smooth carves without feeling locked in.
