MID 6
The Harley Ingleby MID 6 is a high-performance mid-length designed by 3x World Longboard Champion Harley Ingleby and shaper Bill Tolhurst to deliver maximum mid-length performance across all wave types. Its fine round pin tail, curvy outline, smooth rocker with a touch of nose flip, and six perfectly balanced channels make it a mid-length that trims cleanly, paddles into anything, and turns with the precision of a much shorter board.
WHO
The MID 6 is for the surfer who wants one board that paddles effortlessly and still turns like it means it.
- The shortboarder who wants more paddle power and wave count without giving up performance
- The longboarder stepping down into a more responsive, higher-performance shape
- The intermediate-to-advanced surfer ready to explore the mid-length category without compromising drive or speed
- The traveling surfer who wants one board that handles small glassy days and bigger, punchier surf equally well
- The experienced surfer building a versatile quiver who wants a mid-length that goes well beyond cruising
This is the board for surfers who want paddle power and real performance in the same ride.
WHEN
The MID 6 is built to perform across the full range of mid-length surf — from softer, lined-up days where paddle power and glide carry you through flat sections, to punchy, overhead conditions where the pin tail and channels hold an aggressive line through the face. The smooth rocker with slight nose flip lets it drop into steeper waves confidently, while the six-channel bottom generates acceleration through turns and sustains speed where other mid-lengths bog down. Hawaii's mix of mellow summer surf and heavier winter swells covers exactly the performance window this board was designed for.
WHAT
The MID 6 is a performance mid-length built around a fine round pin tail, a curvy outline, and a smooth rocker with a touch of nose flip — an outline designed to be equally comfortable carving deep in the pocket and drawing long open-face arcs. The rail line runs high and full through the nose for paddle power and stability, transitions through a mid-tucked mid-section for drive, and finishes in low-hard tail edges for release and bite. Foil is balanced through the center so the board holds a line through tight turning without tracking, and six perfectly blended channels running between the feet feed immediate response and sustained acceleration exactly where the surfer loads pressure.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What size MID 6 should I order?
MID 6 sizing depends on your weight, skill level, the conditions you surf most, and how you want to ride the board. Lighter surfers and those who want maximum maneuverability typically look at the 6'4, 6'8, and 7'0. Heavier surfers, or those who want more float for softer conditions and more presence in bigger surf, generally lean toward the 7'6 and 7'10. Contact us directly and we'll help you dial it in:

When you reach out, include your current board dimensions and volume, which Thunderbolt construction you're considering (Red or Black), how you want to ride it (more of a one-board quiver for mixed conditions, or more of a performance step-down from a longboard), the type of breaks you surf most (beach break, reef break, point break), how often you surf, and your location — location affects shipping options and helps us give you accurate delivery information.
Who is the Harley Mid 6 for?
The Harley Ingleby series are all high-performance mid-length surfboards designed for surfers who want to experience the best of both worlds. They offer maximum mid-length performance in all wave types and are built with the sameThunderbolt RedandBlack construction, providing a balance of strength, durability, and flexibility. The main differences between the three boards are their fin setups and sizes:
- Mid 6: FCSII five-fin setup, available in 7'0, 7'6, and 7'10 sizes
- Mid 6 Twin: FCS2 Power Twin fin set, available in 6'10 size
- Mid 6 Mini: Thruster or quad fin setup, available in 6'4 to 7'10 sizes
What is the difference between the Mid 6, Mid 6 Twin, and Mid 6 Mini?
The main differences between the three boards are their fin setups and sizes. The Mid 6 has a five-fin setup and is available in 7'0, 7'6, and 7'10 sizes. The Mid 6 Twin has an FCS2 Power Twin fin set and is available in 6'10 size. The Mid 6 Mini has either a thruster or quad fin setup and is available in 6'4 to 7'10 sizes.
Should I ride the MID 6 as a thruster or a quad?
Both work, and the choice depends on the conditions and the surfer. Harley's own recommendation is to lean quad for looser, drivier surfing — especially for longboarders stepping down who want the board to feel immediately responsive — and thruster for surfers who prefer a more familiar, centered feel off the tail. For fin size, Harley recommends the FCS Harley Large Mid set on the 6'4 through 7'0, and the FCS Harley XL Quad set on the 7'6 and 7'10. Any large flat-foiled front fins paired with medium-to-large 80/20 foiled rears will work well with the six-channel bottom.
What's the difference between the shorter and longer MID 6 sizes?
The shorter sizes (6'4 and 6'8) are the MID 6 Mini — the same shape family with a slightly more pronounced curve, built for surfers who want the MID 6's performance DNA in a more compact, maneuverable package. The 7'0 is the original MID 6 and the most versatile size in the range — enough paddle power for everyday surf, still short enough to surf aggressively. The 7'6 is a higher-volume, meatier version of the same design for heavier surfers or those who want more float. The 7'10 is a scaled-up version of the 7'0, designed for bigger, more open-face waves where extra length translates to more drive and projection. All sizes share the same fine round pin tail, curvy outline, and six-channel bottom.
How does the Mid 6 perform in different wave conditions?
The Mid 6 is versatile, performing well in daily surfing conditions and handling more powerful waves. It's comfortable turning deep in the pocket or making long open-face arcs
What's special about the 6 channels on the Mid 6?
The six channels provide immediate response and explosive acceleration out of turns without compromising the ability to change lines or arc lengths on the wave face
