WHEN
The MID 6 is built to perform across the full range of mid-length surf — from softer, lined-up days where paddle power and glide carry you through flat sections, to punchy, overhead conditions where the pin tail and channels hold an aggressive line through the face. The smooth rocker with slight nose flip lets it drop into steeper waves confidently, while the six-channel bottom generates acceleration through turns and sustains speed where other mid-lengths bog down. WHAT
The MID 6 is a performance mid-length built around a fine round pin tail, a curvy outline, and a smooth rocker with a touch of nose flip — an outline designed to be equally comfortable carving deep in the pocket and drawing long open-face arcs. The rail line runs high and full through the nose for paddle power and stability, transitions through a mid-tucked mid-section for drive, and finishes in low-hard tail edges for release and bite. Foil is balanced through the center so the board holds a line through tight turning without tracking, and six perfectly blended channels running between the feet feed immediate response and sustained acceleration exactly where the surfer loads pressure.

Thunderbolt Red: Hand-laminated EPS foam core with internal carbon fiber flex components, layered with 6oz and 4oz fiberglass on the deck and 6oz and 2oz on the bottom. Tuned to a medium weight that blends the durability and liveliness of epoxy with the smooth, connected glide of a traditional polyester build.

I’m 5'9", 160 lbs, and I’ve had my 6'4" Firewire Mid 6 Mini for about two years now. This board is absolute magic.
I usually take it out whenever we have some size—around 3 to 4 foot plus—and oh man, when this thing catches a wave, it catches. It glides into waves so easily, almost like a longboard, but gives you all the maneuverability and versatility of a shortboard once you're up and riding. I just end up speeding through every section, and it is so much fun.
I’ve been running it consistently as a quad set up using the FCS II Performers, which gives it insane speed and hold in good waves.
If you want a mid-length that doesn't feel sluggish and lets you step up when the waves get good, the Mid 6 Mini is awesome. Love this board!

I’ve been riding Thunderbolt boards for years now, and the durability is honestly unbelievable. I have a Mid 6 and an HI4 that are both about 4 or 5 years old, but you would never know it. People ask me all the time out in the water, "When did you get that? Is it brand new?" and I tell them, "Nope, got it four years ago!" There are just no signs of wear and tear on these boards. It's amazing.
On my Mid 6, I usually run the Harley quads. For me, that board is the ultimate step-up. I love pulling it out when the waves are good—overhead, firing, and bigger. That’s when the Mid 6 really comes alive.
It also handles our typical windy, choppy conditions incredibly well. In my opinion, out of all the epoxy-style resin constructions out there, Thunderbolt handles the wind the best. It does a really good job of dampening the chop, which is huge for us since it feels like every time a swell hits, the wind comes right along with it!
If you want a high-performance board that actually lasts, you can't beat this tech.

I love it. I have the Thunderbolt Red—I’ve had two of the Reds—and now this is my first Black.
The HI4 9'1" is one of my go-to boards. I ride it as a single fin and I love it. I usually take that one out on the smaller days.
When it’s waist-high or shoulder-high, I’ll take out the Moe. It handles pretty good on windy, choppy days; that EPS foam core floats and it just glides. It’s so smooth, it’s a dream. It’s literally one of the best all-around boards you can have.
I ride it as a thruster with the Harley Ingleby Large fins, but I’m probably going to try it as a quad too. I’m 5'9", 42 years old, and weigh about 160 to 170 lbs—it just works real good.

This was my first time riding Thunderbolt construction, and I like it a lot. It’s really tough—I’ve hit the reef a couple of times with no damage, whereas my other boards usually get dings. I’m from Foster, Australia, and I’m about 5'8" and 70kg (around 155 lbs). I’ve been riding the 7'0" Mid6 and I absolutely love it. It goes well in everything from rubbish waves to the bigger stuff.
The biggest thing I learned about the Mid6 is that you have to rail surf it. I moved up to this from a shortboard because I’m a bit older now, and at first, I was surfing it all wrong—trying to ride it like a shortboard. I actually saw a video of Harley Ingleby on YouTube where he said to get back over the fins and let the rail do the work. Once I started doing that, it was sweet.
I normally use a medium Al Merrick fin with a bit of rake on my 7'0", but today I’m picking up the 6'4" Mid6 Twin. I have a 6'10" twin fin back home that I really enjoy, so I figured by shrinking the size down to a 6'4", it’s going to be even more performance-oriented. I’m looking forward to being able to really throw this thing around!

I’m 5'8" and about 165 lbs, and I’ve been riding the Mid6 Twin. I’ve always ridden custom poly boards from guys like Chuck Andrews and Owl Chapman for my North Shore quiver, so this construction and the twin fin setup are both new to me.
I took it out to Gas Chambers for three sessions, and I have to say, it’s fun and it catches waves so easily. That’s the main thing for me—at 57 years old, if a board catches waves nice and easy, I’m happy

I’m 5'6" and 150 lbs, and I’ve been riding the 7'0" Mid6. It’s my first mid-length after riding shortboards my whole life, and it honestly feels like cheating because it's such a wave hog. I’ve surfed it in everything from small waves to big surf, and it’s incredibly fun, especially on the backside. My name is John Kim. I work for Vision to Learn, an organization that provides free eyeglasses to needy kids throughout the state. However, when it comes to surfing, I love riding the Mid6 board here in Hawaii. It works perfectly for the conditions, and I enjoy it immensely.
I typically use the Endorfins on my Mid6, although I also like the Endorfin twin fins with a small trailer setup. However, I mostly stick with the quads. The board performs well in various conditions, and I prefer it when there's a bit of wave size but still plenty of power.
Compared to surfing in California, I find that Hawaii offers much better conditions. I'm 5'4" and weigh 170 lbs, and the Mid6 feels perfect for me. I enjoy surfing it both in town and in the country

Hi, I'm Jerome. I've been riding the Mid6 surfboard, specifically the 7'6" version, for about a year and a half. I'm 5'9" and weigh around 180 lbs. I use Carver Thruster fins on it because I don't feel the need for the extra speed that quads provide. The board is fast enough as it is, and sometimes I want it to slow down and feel more controlled. This was my first Thunderbolt board, and I found it comfortable to paddle compared to other epoxy boards. It didn't require me to change my paddling technique significantly, which was a plus. The board has a volume of around 47 liters, and it paddles really easily. I'm now considering the G6, which looks similar to the Mid6 but in a 9'0" version."

The 6’8” Mid6 Mini is a fun board. I ride it as a twin plus trailer. It’s quick and the fin set up makes it easy to turn. I’m about 5’1”, 105 lbs and 66 years young. I already had the 7’0” which is a great board overall but especially when it gets a bit bigger and more crowded. Both are good additions to any quiver!

I'm Brian. I have the 6'4" Mini Mid6. I took it out today at Ala Moana Beach Park in some smaller waves. The forecast said zero to one foot, but I just went out to practice. I'm coming off a 7'2" Moe that was 49 liters, so it was a bit of a transition.
When I first hopped on the Mid6, coming down from the Moe, it was kind of challenging. I had some shoulder burn, but you just got to keep going. One day I caught like a head-high wave, and that just kind of turned everything around for me.
I'm running a quad fin setup, using FCS2 fins, probably the Performers. I took them off the Moe and put them on this board.
I've been surfing since high school, but I was on and off. Only recently have I been really consistent about it. Now I'm down to that Mini Mid6, which I think was a really good investment.
I've been taking it out on bigger swells too. At first, I was kind of scared because I didn't know how I was going to do, but you just catch a nice wave, and then you're good for the whole session. You just kind of get used to it.

My name is Reid Nishimoto. I picked up the Mini Mid6 6'8" at first, fell in love with it, and immediately ordered the 6'4". The 6'4" has been like magic.
I surf Kewalos most of the time. You know how the point breaks there, it's got some juice to it. The ping is there, but as soon as you get up and stomp on the tail, it works like a shortboard. I've been getting compliments like, 'Wow, that thing is whipping around. How big is that board?' When people start saying that, you know it's good for you.
On small days, I ride it the same way, and it's been working really good. With the channels, it feels loose to me. I can come off the bottom and do a normal shortboard turn, which is pretty good. People might think it looks stiff because of the tail and channels, but it's not.
For Diamond Head's windy, choppy days, it's perfect. The only problem I have with the small trailer fin is that the whitewash can knock me off, so it doesn't hold that much. But when I'm on the face and in the pocket, it's really good.

Hi, Im Jay Kauhane. I have the Tolhurst Mid6 7'0". Its awesome. I mostly surf it in the country, but I plan to take it out on bigger swells in town. Initially, I was concerned about the rocker in the nose, but this board paddles really well and sits in the water nicely, even though its light. It has a lot of drive. I use the FCS Dan Man fins in a quad setup, which is drivey but still loose enough for good turns. As Im getting older and dont surf regular shortboards, this is an awesome replacement. Ive taken it out in 6 to 8 feet waves in the country, and it holds well, paddling early and setting up nicely. The sweet spot is good; you can put your foot all the way back for big turns or move it up for a looser drive down the line. It handles chop surprisingly well, thanks to the knifey rails and channels that provide drive without being sticky in turns. This board is great for anyone getting older or looking for a step-up board that still paddles well and allows for good turns. I usually ride about 36-37 liters, and this board fits that volume perfectly. Its an awesome board

I am Kelly from Ewa Beach. I got the 7 6 Mid6. I lost the fin so I had to get a replacement, but the board goes. I think it turns really well too. I am using the Harley Ingleby quads now. Even with my weight, I am able to move and maneuver nicely. I can do roundhouse cutbacks backside; I was like, oh, this board goes. I took it out on the swell last week. It was like 7 to 10 feet, but it was White Plains, so it was still good. The board gets through sections really well. You can just pump down the line and it is fast. When you lock it into the channel bottoms, oh, it will go.

I just got mid six 7 from HSS, and it is nice. I had a few waves on some rifling north shore waves during this past swell. Once you set the rail it is so responsive and fast you can do any turn you want. It truly is the best of both worlds. It can paddle good and turn on a dime. Keep bringing in these insane boards.

Super fun and loose especially for a mid-length. Rides like a short board w/ the right amount of volume. Board fits nicely in the pocket and turns really well w/ the rocker, tapered rails and bottom channels. Currently I’m riding the board w/ power twins and a stubby. The stubby gives it drive in the turns.

My name is Stan ishii, got a mid six the first time and um demoed it but I bought it like I was going to Mexico you know like a month or so and I said am I waiting for you know better a smaller one but then a lot of desperation the seven six or seven are coming for a couple of months so I just said okay if it's there two weeks later I'm gonna buy it and it was here so I bought it had your name on it look at the Mexico enjoyed it a little bit maybe too much board for me so I came back and then you mentioned though why did you demo the seven six took it out with a twin which you recommended too yeah the two plus one and that was everything I wanted in a board and I went Indo in 10 days and I'm just looking forward to just enjoying the sport. so the two plus one I think a lot of people they say it's hard for them to like totally get on the tail and maneuver it but if you don't have to go all the way in the town you can still maneuver the thing. My weight to the board ratio is pretty good it's light it's like a good pabbing action I can't say enough about technology well for senior citizens you know what I bought a thousand dollar driver and it worked well so now I had to go with technology with surfing. Height and weight is five seven 170.

I got the 7-0 mid six I like it super sick so I immediately got to take it out on like a really excellent Northeast swell , a really excellent ride that we found in the West Shore on Big Island I'm just like shoots down the line so fast so maneuverable I rode it with a quad setup just super nice like very smooth turns good like the good kind of nice smooth turns you want out of a mid-length board but excellent maneuverability good rocker love it.
it's like the speed feel of that sort of a setup . I ride pretty high volume so I've got a like a hypto cryptol ride like a six two it's like pushing 40 liters you know it's a bit of a step up. I had a sort of a medium performance you know FCS setup but I'm jumping up to some larger fins I get one I want to give them a shot sort of feel how it feels you know exercising yeah I was riding a medium-sized fin which was I think fine with the 7-0 because there's so much like so much rail to work with so you don't really have to fight to get into the turns but yeah I'm looking forward to getting some larger fins on it too to just sort of see if I can lean into it even more slap but it was super sick and you guys were awesome you know I got the board like the very next day so it was super cool

Super versatile board. Works well in pretty much everything up to a several feet overhead.
Big, small, junk, good, it'll work. Easy to control/maneuver so good for any level surfer. I use the HI quads as recommended by HI and never had a reason to change. The 7'2 Moe is also just as versatile. I've surfed it in really small stuff up to overhead and it goes just like the 8' Moe. I'm 180 lbs by the way. If your debating between the Mid 6 and Moe, the Moe is probably the one. I use the Moes far more than the 7' Mid 6 mainly because the Moe works better in average surf and even below average surf. The Mid 6 needs size and push to get it going. Great board when the conditions call for it, but not a daily driver like the Moe.

Great board. Got to use it as my country step up last season. It feels like you are being shot out of a cannon on the take offs and it handles well in double over head.
Also, used it as a true mid length for the smaller days in town this season. Rides well on the smaller faces too.
