Yes. The Hawaiian South Shore Wet Rash protects your skin from rashes caused by board wax, sun exposure, and paddling friction. It's made with soft 1.5mm neoprene, so it adds warmth without bulk, and it's comfortable enough to wear in both warm and cooler surf.
The Wet Rash is a hybrid. It combines the flexibility of a rashguard with the light warmth of a wetsuit. Traditional wetsuit tops are often bulky or stiff. The Hawaiian South Shore Wet Rash uses 1.5mm soft neoprene, giving you warmth, protection, and better mobility ā ideal for Hawaiiās changing surf conditions.
The Wet Rash is designed for a snug, performance fit. Itās shaped to move with you in the water. Raised seams in the armpit area prevent pinching, and there are no seams directly under the arms ā so even though it fits close, it stays comfortable during long sessions.
The Wet Rash protects your upper body, but it doesnāt cover the inner thigh area. However, it does have a reinforced boardshort connector loop that keeps it from riding up ā which can reduce skin-on-skin friction caused by twisting or paddling hard.
If you're in the sun for long hours or surfing in windy conditions, yes. Hawaiian South Shore offers both hooded and non-hooded versions. The hooded model protects your neck, ears, and head from UV and windburn, while the non-hooded version features a neck loop for comfort and security.
Choose your regular wetsuit or surf top size. The Wet Rash fits snug, but not restrictive. Itās available in a full size run, and the flexible 1.5mm neoprene molds to your body. If youāre between sizes, size down for a tighter surf fit.
Yes. The neoprene material naturally blocks UV rays. Whether you're paddling out mid-day or hanging out on the beach after a session, the Wet Rash gives you consistent sun protection without needing to reapply sunscreen on your upper body.
Rinse it in fresh water after each session. Hang dry it in the shade. Avoid direct sun when drying, and donāt use a washing machine or dryer. The materials are premium, but like all surf gear, proper care keeps it flexible and long-lasting.

This is my second rash guard wetsuit from SSH. My first one did not have that extra pocket in the back for wax, keys, etc. The one I just received will be my back up when I finally retire the one I'm using now for my early morning sessions at Hanalei Bay. The seems on the arms were starting to come apart so I hand sewn them for reinforcements with thread and it works for now. I also have on of those Japanese Straw Hat wetsuits when the air gets colder.

I had to come down to Hawaiian South Shore to give an awesome review for their wetsuit rash guard. I actually got one for my dad three years agoāhe surfs in it every single day and heās still rocking it today! Itās definitely worth the value and has lasted for years, but I decided to come in for Christmas to get him a fresh, updated one. The first time I came in, I was actually looking for fins because of the huge assortment here, but I ended up getting turned on to the rash guard and their own brand of sunscreen. Iāve been using the sunscreen stick for over three years now and itās still going strong. Mahalo to the team for hooking it up!

Iāve been using this wetsuit top religiously for about two years now. Iāve gone through so many other brands with zippers in the middle or the back, but for Hawaiian waters, this is the one you want. It does exactly what it needs toāit blocks the sun and has that extra padding where you need it. If you surf a lot, you know you get rashes, so that padding is huge. Itās also super easy to get in and out of. Iām about 5'4" and 160 lbs and I wear a medium. Even after two years of heavy use, the zipper is holding up really well. Thereās a little bit of minor wear and tear, but for two years of constant surfing? You canāt beat it. I actually just saw that the new ones have a pocket for your keys, which is keyānow I have to get a new one for myself! Iām actually picking this one up today as a gift for a friend. For the price, you just can't beat it.

Top tier rashie. Ive had a few versions of this over the last few years, and the latest have greatly improved fit, robustness, and quality in sticking. Love the neoprene layer making it much more versatile for a touch of warmth verses the JJF or Patagonia versions. Enough good stretch that it didnāt blow off your head every wave! Must have for tropic surf trips.

These suits are perfect for Hawaii. Neoprene for keeping the core warm and also padding where you need it most The Lycra arms keep you from being sunburned and makes paddling a lot less restrictive. I had one for over a year and just got this new one as a replacement. Stoked !!!

Itās awesome. Now that winterās ending, itās time to get out of the wetsuit top. Itās a little too hot midday for a full top, and this is the perfect medium. You get the 1.5mm chest piece and the rash guard sides, so you donāt stay too warm but you also donāt get cold. Especially with summer coming up, itāll be nice in the mornings so I can stay in the water a little longer without getting chilly. The fit is good with no irritation so far. I like the hood, too. I work in the sun all day, so getting that extra sun protection is not bad

I have had the non hooded wet-rash for over a year. It is still in great shape. I wear it most every surf. It shields out the harsh rays of the sun and keeps the chill of the wind out. The recent order was to have a back-up. I ran into a guy on the trail and he noticed I was wearing one too. He expressed how he loved his so much he has two. My name is Brandon, and I am a huge fan of the Hawaiian Southshore wet rash. I have been surfing in it for the last couple of years. For me, it has many advantages. First, it has a thin layer of neoprene that provides cushion on the board, which I believe also keeps me warmer and allows me to surf for longer periods. It keeps my core warm, while the shoulders, made with dry fit material, are super flexible. This flexibility is incredible for paddling. Additionally, as I have fair skin, I appreciate the coverage it provides for sun protection and staying healthy by preventing skin cancer. I think it is an incredible product from both a performance and health perspective. I love it and have definitely recommended it to many friends. I am really looking forward to the upcoming hoodie version, which seems like a phenomenal upgrade with the back pocket. I am a huge fan of the Southshore wet rash and appreciate all the technology, innovation, and thoughtfulness that goes into it. It is absolutely awesome.

I've had my Hawaiian South Shore wet rash for three seasons now, and it's amazing. I wear it during summer and winter. It's one of the only things like it designed right here in Hawaii, and it's lasted three seasons. I love that when this thing is wet, you get freedom through the neoprene. It's 1.5 mil, so it keeps you warm. Unlike other big brands where you get nipple rash, this thing with the front and back paneling is unique. There's no chafing on the neck, and I don't get rash when paddling through the treadmill. Divers love it, my friends who fish love it, and swimmers like it too. I've seen guys over at Kaimanas all decked out in it. It's got a killer Hawaiian South Shore logo, and the logo placement is perfect. It's pure function - no rash and keeps you warm. I love the zipper in the back with the velcro part. One tip: when surfing in bigger waves, I don't tie the part at the bottom because if you wipe out and get stuck under the white water, it can blow up and grab your trunks. The freedom in the arms and the way it looks in the water is great. I'm 6'1" and 214 pounds, and I wear a size extra large. I absolutely love it and I'm super stoked for the new winter season 2025.

I've had several of these over the last three years. The fit is perfect. I really like the extra padding for the ribs; it definitely helps. The sleeve area is Lycra rather than wetsuit material, so you still feel free and it's not too hot to wear in the daytime. I haven't had any issues with the usual rashes you get in the corners [underarms]. It would be nice if Dave made it in a gray color to help with the sun!

I'm Josh. I got a Hawaiian South Shore wet rash guard from you guys. I'm about 125 pounds and 5'2" tall, and I bought a small size. What I liked about it is that it was just perfect for when the weather was a little rainy and windy out there. It gave me the perfect amount of warmth without being too hot, and without feeling like I was restricted at all. I could just swim out there no problem. I did use it to surf, but what I meant was that I could move my arms and paddle freely. It's nice and simple, and I definitely liked it. Perfect, thanks

Hi, I'm Glenn. I'm picking up a Hawaiian South Shore wet rash guard, and this is my second one. I use it for swimming. I'm a swimmer and I swim 45 minutes non-stop, four times a week. I've tried many different rash guards, and they don't last. About a year ago, I picked one of these up, and it's the best rash guard I've ever worn, especially if you're going to swim or surf. It's tight to the body, not loose - perfect. I actually do more pool swimming, and it lasts inside the pool too, which is great because usually the chemicals are a little bit harsher. It's really, really good. If you swim or surf, that's the rash guard to get. It's perfect.

My name is Dee. I'm surfing out here in town. I got a wet rash guard from Hawaiian South Shore, the short sleeve one. I've used it basically every day, either in the middle of the day to block the sun or when it's cold and windy. It's perfect. It does the job and feels nice and warm. The short sleeves are great because they aren't really restricting. And this long sleeve one, if you look under the arm, there's no seam under the armpit, so you're not going to get a rash, that's for sure. I'm not worried about it. It'll definitely be nice in the winter. I've tried it in more solid surf too, and it stays on, which is all we want to know.

My name is Obby and I am a body boarder. I have been using the Hawaiian South wet rash. I like it. You know, doing the body boarding, you get rashes and stuff, so this helps prevent rashes. It also helps with too much sun, so it keeps me from having to put on sunscreen. This covers me up and it is nice, so I do not have to worry about overheating. If it is a little cold, it gives me a little extra layer. I love this little tag here that sticks into your board shorts so you can tie it, so it does not keep coming up. You can watch people that use other ones and they get real big and stuff like that, but this stays nice and tight on me. I got the right size for mine. I am 6 1 and 155 pounds. I got a small size, I believe. Whatever size I got, it fits. I think it was a small because he says it is better to have it smaller than bigger. It does the trick and I love it. I'm Thomas, and I just tried out the wet rash guard for the first time. I'm new to wet rash guards, but I've got to say, I have no hair, so the hood comes in handy and keeps me warm. I just roll it up on my neck to stay warm. The best part, though, is that the sleeves are just like a normal rash guard. This is thick and keeps you warm, but it doesn't make you feel claustrophobic. This is my go-to now. I just got out of the water, and it was pretty dark and cold today. It was windy, but this did the job. It kept me warm, and having this on my neck, even when I didn't have the hood up, was the best. I'm 6'2" and weigh about 178 pounds. This is a medium, and it's a nice fit on me. I enjoyed it

Hey guys its tommy, I just tried the Hawaiian South shore wetrash. Best thing I've ever tried, nice and warm when its cold in your body and your torso but the arm are so free. They are not so thin that you feel cold, you just kinda feel that it's almost massaging your arm when you paddle. Best thing I ever tried. Keep it up. Surfed it in Haliva early in the morning before sun and it was great and I didn't get blown up, the little zip on the back makes it easy. Most wetrashes are tie strings and they're forever to take off and put on. This things easy on easy off.

I am a surf instructor down at Moku Surf Shop in Waikiki, a beach boy, and I'm here today at my brother's shop Hawaiian South Shore Surf Shop who I love and respect and totally support. I get all my fins, all my wax, and all my other stuff here. Most important for me, it doesn't stretch out, it always goes back even with my watches underneath it. It doesn't stretch out even in big surf, it doesn't roll up into my armpit like some of them do. I'm really happy with that. Hands down best thing I've ever worn. My height is 6ļæ½1ļæ½, 220lbs. Been surfing for 50 years, very experienced. Worn it all. What size are you wearing? XL. XL - I don't like to go double XL because my size fluctuates sometimes. If I buy the XL sometimes it's a little too loose. The double XL can be too big. So I go with the XL all the time.

My name is Ateluk I'm the owner of Hawaii swim clinic and we've been using uh the gear out here for a while The wet rash so is it it has a two millimeter front and back with the zipper in the back and then the rash guard the thing protecting you pretty good from the side super good. We actually have each we have we have the full wet suit we have the rash guard we have this one in between and the nice thing about it for us is we do a little bit more swimming, so the mobility from the rash guard is a little bit nicer you know you get can do move through we're going through butterfly backs with breaststroke so we get that Mobility side of the rash guard but then we can still stay warm. Awesome!
