TJ PRO MID

The Firewire Taylor Jensen Pro Mid is a performance mid-length built from longboard roots — designed by three-time world longboard champion Taylor Jensen and shaper Dan Mann to deliver longboard glide, paddle ease, and on-rail drive in a board that fits in the pocket of a wave. Whether you're stepping down from a longboard or looking for a high-volume option on softer days, the TJ Pro Mid is one of the most versatile shapes in the Firewire lineup.

WHO

The TJ Pro Mid is built to bridge the gap — it's the right board for surfers who've outgrown their longboard but aren't ready to sacrifice glide and paddle power.

  • The longboarder who wants a smaller, more maneuverable board without losing the flow and early-entry feel they rely on
  • The shortboarder who wants more volume and forgiveness on smaller, weaker days without riding something that feels sluggish
  • The intermediate surfer who wants a single board that can handle a wide range of conditions without compromising performance
  • The traveler or boat-trip surfer looking for a one-board quiver that works from waist-high to well overhead
  • The surfer who wants more performance out of a mid-length than a traditional egg or fun shape can deliver

This board rewards surfers who want to push their surfing — not just cruise.

WHEN

The TJ Pro Mid's flat rocker and longboard-derived outline make it a serious early-paddler — it locks into waves before most mid-lengths are even thinking about it. That ability to catch waves early makes it effective from shin-high to well overhead. In weaker, smaller surf, the flat rocker keeps the board skimming through dead sections and generating speed where other boards stall. In more powerful, overhead conditions, the tucked hard-edge rails and pulled-in pintail keep it engaged and precise. Hawaii's variable conditions — soft summer days, punchy reef walls, and everything in between — are exactly the range this board is built for.

WHAT

The TJ Pro Mid starts with the proven bottom contour of the TJ Pro longboard, then scales it down into a purpose-built mid-length shape. A flat entry rocker transitions into a flat bottom through the front section, blending into a double concave underfoot — a contour that generates speed and stability simultaneously. The rails run neutral and round through the front half, then transition into a tucked hard edge through the tail, adding bite and drive when you commit to a turn. The pulled-in pintail keeps the back end controlled without making the board feel stiff or locked in. What makes the TJ Pro Mid unusual among mid-lengths is where its DNA comes from — most mid-lengths are stretched shortboards. This one is a scaled-down longboard, and the difference in feel underfoot is significant: more glide, more flow, more natural momentum down the line.
