LOST PISCES

The Lost Pisces is a performance fish built for everyday surfing — fast and loose in small surf, precise and controlled when it matters. Born from the RNF '96 and refined over three years into something sharper, quicker, and more capable across the full range of conditions you'll actually surf.

WHO

The Pisces draws in a wide range of surfers, all looking for the same thing: a fish that doesn't compromise.

  • Intermediate surfers who want more response and tighter turning than a traditional fish provides
  • Advanced surfers looking for a high-performance alternative to their shortboard on less-than-perfect days
  • Heavier surfers who need a board with real drive and pocket control, not just float
  • Surfers who ride a lot of different breaks and want one board that adapts without feeling like a sacrifice
  • Anyone who loved the RNF '96 but wants more precision and vertical performance out of a fish shape

If you want a fish that can keep up when the surf actually gets good, the Pisces is it.

WHEN

The Pisces performs across the full range of everyday surf — from weak, gutless days where you need the board to generate speed on its own, to head-high-plus conditions where you want to drive hard off the bottom and snap at the lip. It handles variable Hawaiian surf well: the days that mix mushy sections with the occasional punchy wall, where you need a board that's fast enough to catch everything and responsive enough to do something with it. This is not a dedicated grovel board, but it outperforms most fish when the waves have any push to them.

WHAT

The Pisces starts with a pulled-in nose and added entry rocker, which gives it a cleaner, more controlled takeoff than a traditional fish while keeping the centerline flat for speed between your feet.

The deeper mid-section concave generates lift and drive down the line, and the increased rail-line rocker under the rear foot puts real pivot into your turns — letting you lock into the pocket and drive out of it with precision rather than just flowing through. A mellow wing aligned with the front fin cluster adds turning release without killing speed, and vee into the swallow tips sharpens up the tail for pocket control.

The Pisces is built in PU and Blacksheep construction. PU delivers that familiar flex and weight underfoot — responsive in punchier surf, great for heavier surfers who want rail engagement. Blacksheep uses a tri-directional carbon fiber deck wrap over a lightweight EPS core, keeping the board lively and light without stiffening it out. Both constructions ride with a 5-fin box for full setup flexibility.

CONSTRUCTION OPTIONS

PU (Polyurethane): Traditional foam and polyester resin construction. Denser and heavier than EPS, with a classic flex feel that many surfers prefer in punchier, more powerful surf.

Blacksheep: EPS core with a tri-directional carbon fiber deck wrap. Lightweight and lively with a responsive, springy feel. Carbon stays on the deck only — rails remain flexible for natural torsion.

FIN CONFIGURATIONS

5-fin box. Rides as quad, twin, twin + 1 stabilizer, twin + 2, or thruster. Fins not included.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does the Pisces compare to the RNF 96?

The Pisces is a modern upgrade of the Round Nose Fish '96. It keeps the flowy, skatey fish feel but adds:

  • More rocker for tighter turns
  • Deeper concaves and updated rail rocker for lift and control
  • Tail vee and wing design for better pocket surfing

Learn More

Is the Pisces a good grovel board?

Yes — it excels in everyday surf.

  • In small surf, it’s fast and fun with a quad or twin+1 setup.
  • For ultra-soft waves below 1ft, a pure grovel board may outperform it.

What size Pisces should I ride?

It depends on your weight, skill, and preference. Some examples:

  • 165–185 lbs (intermediate): 5'9" (34 L)
  • Under 160 lbs (advanced): 5'7"–5'8" (31–32 L)
  • 200+ lbs: 6'2"–6'4" (41–44 L)

PU vs. Blacksheep – which construction is better?

PU (Polyurethane):

  • Classic feel, great in punchier waves
  • Easier to repair
  • Heavier

Blacksheep (Epoxy/Carbon):

  • Lightweight, more pop
  • Better for small/medium surf
  • Very durable, but harder to repair

What fin setup works best?

The Pisces comes with a 5-fin box. Choose based on conditions:

  • Quad: Best all-around — speed and drive
  • Twin + Stabilizer: Loose and playful for small waves
  • Thruster: Control in steeper, bigger surf
  • Twin: Maximum speed and flow in clean surf

How does it handle big vs. small waves?

Small Waves: Excellent, especially in Blacksheep construction

Bigger Waves: Solid up to overhead in PU; may feel “floaty” in epoxy
