TAYLOR JENSEN
TWINZER
- Canard fins kill the tail-slide that makes regular twin fins unpredictable under pressure
- Full, round outline and extra volume paddle into waves easier
- Round pin tail adds hold and drive without giving up pivot
- Works equally well on backhand and forehand—no weak side
- Two main twins for speed, two forward canards for control
- Rocker keeps you moving in weak surf; canards lock you in past head-high
- Helium's stringerless EPS core keeps it light and lively despite the extra volume

TWINZER
The Firewire Taylor Jensen Twinzer is a full-outline mid-length built around Stu Kenson's refined twinzer design — a four-fin setup that delivers twin-fin speed and flow with significantly more control and drive than a traditional two-fin board. Shaped in collaboration with Firewire team rider Taylor Jensen, this is a board that rewards a wide range of surfers across a wide range of conditions.
WHO
The Twinzer is for surfers who want more out of their everyday lineup than a standard shortboard gives them.
- The experienced shortboarder looking for a mid-length that still surfs with real performance — not just paddling ease
- The surfer who loves the flow of a twin fin but loses confidence when the tail slides out in critical moments
- The intermediate surfer ready to step into longer, higher-volume equipment without giving up maneuverability
- The surfer who struggles on their backhand and wants a board that works equally well in both directions
- The all-conditions surfer who needs one board to handle anything from small, soft days to powerful overhead surf
This board closes the gap between the loose freedom of a twin and the controlled drive of a thruster — and it does it across the full range of what the ocean throws at you.
WHEN
The Twinzer is built to perform from knee-high junk to solid overhead surf, and it handles both ends of that range without compromise. In smaller, weaker conditions, the full outline and extra volume do the paddling work while the twinzer fin setup generates speed where a thruster would drag. When surf gets to head-high and above, the forward canard fins keep the tail engaged and prevent the slidey, loose feeling that makes pure twin fins unpredictable in more powerful waves. It's especially well suited to Hawaii's variable lineups — days that start small, build through the session, and demand a board that adapts rather than one that only works in a specific window.
WHAT
The Twinzer's outline is full and round from nose to tail, with a round pin tail that adds hold and directional drive without sacrificing the pivot needed for turns. The extra width and volume throughout the template improve paddle power and wave entry, while the rocker profile keeps the board from stalling in weaker surf. What makes this board different from any other mid-length is the four-fin twinzer configuration: two larger main twin fins paired with two smaller forward canard fins positioned closer to the rails. Stu Kenson spent decades refining the placement of those canard fins, and the result is a board that channels water across the foiled side of the larger fins — eliminating the cavitation and tail-slide that make traditional twin fins feel unstable when driven hard.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the Twinzer setup, and how does it differ from a traditional twin-fin setup?
The Twinzer setup includes two main twin fins and two additional smaller side bite fins placed closer to the rail, enhancing stability and reducing fin cavitation. This setup is distinct from a traditional twin-fin setup, which lacks the side bites, providing more control and speed
What types of waves is the Taylor Jensen Twinzer best suited for?
The Taylor Jensen Twinzer works well in waves ranging from 2 to 7 feet, handling a variety of conditions from small junk surf to powerful overhead waves
What are the benefits of the Helium Core Technology used in the TJ Twinzer?
The Helium Core Technology offers a lightweight and lively feel, with a stringerless EPS core and flex controlled at the rails using Paulownia and Balsa wood. This construction enhances speed generation and provides durability compared to traditional PU boards
How does the Twinzer setup affect performance on backhand and forehand?
The Twinzer setup provides excellent grip and control, allowing for aggressive turns on both backhand and forehand. It is particularly beneficial on the backhand, where many surfers struggle with slippage
Is the TJ Twinzer suitable for surfers of all skill levels?
Yes, the TJ Twinzer is versatile and suitable for surfers ranging from low-level intermediate to seasoned professionals. It offers a forgiving ride when surfed from the middle but can also deliver high-performance surfing when driven hard off the tail
