WHAT IS LOST PUDDLE JUMPER STING?

Is it possible to make an all time fave even better? Thats the question…and the challenge. The Puddle Jumper was a genre defining game changer and one of the most popular small wave hybrids of all time. With a plethora of knock-offs and our own growing line up of spin- offs, its evolution and popularity continues. More than a decade in, we still receive custom orders for original Puddle Jumpers, almost daily.

The PUDDLE JUMPER-STING is inspired by our long time Puddle Jumper collaboration with LIB-Tech, which features a winged squash tail version of the original Puddle Jumper. We wanted to build on this design and take it a step further, incorporating the iconic STING design element. The insertion of the STING came together naturally and with ease. Looking like it always belonged. One of our widest and most stable/playful plan-shapes has now been radicalized with the STING. Placed at 18” (roughly 1/4 up from the tail) it immediately looked like a perfect fit. Enabling a sharper, tighter and more intense turning fulcrum, into this easy riding, playful fun machine. One of the limitations of exceedingly wide hybrids has always been that they are easy to enjoy, but difficult to get truly radical on.

The same problem solving that brought the STING to prominence, nearly 50 years ago, is re-applied here, to the OG Puddle Jumper, with amazing results. Bertlemann will love it and Buttons would be stoked!

Lightspeed II is Lost Surfboards' latest proprietary construction technology that builds upon the foundation of their original Lightspeed design while introducing significant material improvements. Lightspeed II maintains the same foundation as the original Lightspeed but introduces new materials for ultra-light and ultra-fast performance.

The revolutionary aspect of Lightspeed II lies in its complete elimination of carbon fiber components. Instead, Lost has developed a custom-engineered combination of high-tensile S-Glass and Innegra composite materials that deliver what the original Lightspeed promised, but with dramatically improved ride characteristics.

The result is a board that maintains all the speed and responsiveness you expect while delivering a smoother, more controlled ride.

Light Speed is …Lost’s proprietary construction process for building the world’s most advanced surfboards.

Combining lightweight EPS foam, high-strength epoxy resin, Rapid-Reflex carbon fiber and Innegra fibers that help dampen vibrations, Light Speed boards are extremely lightweight, fast down the line, and proven through thousands of hours of R&D by the world’s best shapers and surfers.

The proprietary fiberglass blend and woven carbon fiber adds strength and pop, loading up under the feet and providing a lively feel through turns, while the two aligned center exo-stringers on both the deck and bottom of the board provide torsional twist for a more sensitive and responsive board.

Meanwhile, the fused carbon fiber tail patch increases strength and transfers more input into the rails. When all of these elements are combined, the result is a fast, responsive, lightweight board that doesn’t sacrifice strength or durability.
